On Business: Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurship is a conversation I have been having a lot lately. When people talk to me about their ideas for going out on their own I am inspired by their faith  and confidence in themselves. For many years I have wondered if I was bold enough to walk away from a career and pave my own road. The idea is appealing but do I have what it takes to really be an entrepreneur, to make the sacrifices needed for my vision?

I have known people who have walked away from secure jobs and be only moderately successful. I have seen some people walk away from jobs and  ‘fail’ at their own business, although I don’t consider a failure because at least they tried and the world didn’t end when it didn’t work out well.I have never known anyone to go it on their own and become insanely rich but they found a level of satisfaction in having their own. I need to feel that satisfaction but I also know I need a level of discipline that I have not proven to myself yet. It is easy for me to give everything in my job that I’m trained to do. I often don’t have a problem staying late and I am a fantastic team player and I reap the benefits in that job security, yet I am no longer fulfilled clocking time for someone else. I wonder if I have the same drive for myself as I do for the company I am employed at. Working for someone is easy for a lot of us. We put in the hours, we get a paycheck, paid vacation and health benefits. It’s simple and I like everyone really like simple but…maybe I think I may be ready for a challenge.
