Countdown To Election

Here we are folks just days away from a new president elect. Scary, isn’t it? I cannot wait till it is over and I hope with every cell in my body that Donald Trump experiences the most devastating loss in American politics.

I know many are trying to make this a three or four person race but it is not it is a two person race between race between the most racist disgusting human being on the planet Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

I have posted in the past how much Hillary has fallen out of favor with me. Not because of emails, which I think is another GOP hack because Bush administration destroyed 22 million emails and not one republican yelled boo about it, or because I think she is the most dishonest person on the planet. My dislike for her deemed from her run against POTUS in 2008. Like a lot of African-Americans I felt immediately protective of the first Black president to be. She seemed to graciously accept her defeat but her husband whom I still do not like has been throwing slick shade ever since.

I know many people believe they don’t trust or like Hillary but really think about where that comes from and that is from the disingenuous republican party. The same party who supported the birther controversy, the same party that had member stand up at a state of the union speech and call our president a liar, the same party that for eight years has blocked any and every bill that would help the country move out of the mess they created.

They slam her for her ambition…yeah, she is but since when is that a bad thing? I’m not going to do a whole Hillary spiel because for the last year I quoted  some of the sam republican spin. Yes, some things I have scratched my head on but do I believe she is a corrupt person, no I do not and never have.

I wanted a Bernie win but after the Convention I was with her, after listening to Donald for the last year and half I am happily with her.

hillary-and-the-pig

For well over thirty years the GOP have tried their damnedest to bring this one woman down and yet through their own investigations they have found nothing of any real substance to ‘pin’ on her. These are their investigations that have cost millions of dollars and yet she is the one suffering the bad reputation. Either she is the most brilliant criminal master mind or their accusations are based on nothing but revenge. I vote revenge.

The election season is ending but the fight for a progressive America is not ending. Voting is only part of the process for government and I think we all think after we do that part we should just wait to see what our officials do. We can’t do that. We have to hold Hillary accountable, we have to write our senators and state representatives, we have to demand more from our mayors and governors, voting is just the beginning of a new process.

Ask yourself will you have a better time convincing Hillary, Democratic Senate and House or trying to convince a racist like Trump and the entire GOP to do right by you.? Don’t believe their hype.

So, here we are folks the end of the road and on Wednesday we will have a new president elect. Please vote for Hillary. I don’t want to live in a Trump world and I’m sure many of you do not either.

On White Supremacy: Slain Dallas Cop

I watch MSNBC from the time I wake, throughout the day, and before I go to sleep at night. No matter what I’m watching I always flip to MSNBC to see if anything in the world has changed. Most often the shit that led the news in the morning is the same shit ending the news at night but I have to check…just in case.

This morning, although I’m on vacation my routines is not much different. I flip on to MSNBC to see the son of Atlon Sterling was on air asking for peace during this trying time. This 15yo boy has now been given the role to preach to the black community on how to demonstrate against the system killing black folks. It left a bad taste in my mouth.

Then I hop onto my phone to the Huffington Post and come across this article about slain Dallas police officer Lorne Ahrens (original article here) and his connections to white supremacist groups. Have any of you heard about that? Please read the link

Not a peep uttered on MSNBC. I doubt CNN or FOX news picked it up because it does not fit their narrative that cops are good and black men are always bad.

I’m sure MSNBC and other news groups are saying they are not reporting on this out of respect for the family. Yet, this is exactly what black communities are dealing with when they wake up in the morning and it the sidewalk…white supremacist dressed as cops. So tell me why I shouldn’t be angry that not only is this man in a uniform but he is also now a hero with a sitting President and former at a memorial service for him? How does that work?

When a black man is shot the media goes all the way back to the ‘cruise to America’ to find dirt on him.

News Report: We did some discovery on the victim and his great great great grandfather’s cousin started a riot on the ship . He was very disruptive, caused a commotion and two white men were killed. The victim by association is not all that innocent. End Report

When that baby fell into the gorilla pit the ‘media’ dug up the father’s criminal record. WTF did that have to do with that baby falling into a gorilla pit but yet every news station reported it. But a white supremacist cop dead from a black shooter only gets respect and no reporting on his views that affect the black community at large.

They dug up Trayvon Martin’s school records and Facebook posts to discredit him and yet this cop gets a nice pass for his affiliations?  His white supremacist tattoos were totally unnoticed by all the ‘good cops’ on the force?  I’m sure he kept his racism in check and didn’t let it come into play in his work <insert massive eye roll here>

Must be nice to get that kind of respect from the media?

Thanks to the Empire  of Loathing for exposing this story.

On Politics: Make America Great, Again?

I’ve been avoiding politics on my blog for some time now. It is a toxic subject for me yet I watch political commentary, read political articles, and stay tapped in from the time I open my eyes and read the first post of the day on Crooks and Liars till I read the last post  when I close them at night. I have honestly been a political junkie since my third grade class and my teacher Mr. Cummings introduced me to the Boston Globe and their commentary section in a Current Events class.

Now, this election cycle is the most unique one for anyone’s lifetime. I consider myself a conservative liberal…more middle of the road and with a basic common sense approach to life and politics but lets be real basic common sense in politics is missing no matter what side of the aisle you sit. I believe in basic human rights, I believe in basic respect for all human lives and I believe no color, religious denomination, sexual orientation, or race is exempt from that. That is what I believe as a Black American citizen.

But America, in its greatness, has always exempted people because of color, religious denomination, sexual orientation and race. It has always been in politics… it has always been in our government perpetuated by our politicians and  our justice system however surreptitious it has always been exemption has always been a part of America. ALWAYS.

Now we hear some American’s want to make America great again. I’m all for it because my  ancestors tried to make America great when they fought for their basic human rights before and after slavery but were met with Jim Crow laws. They kept fighting to make America great when they fought in American wars and yet were snubbed when they got home. They still wanted to make America great again fighting for for basic civil rights in the sixties. And here we are in 2016 trying to make America great by exposing the inequalities of a bias judicial and economic system.

I’m all for making America great and fighting for the basic human right to live especially when I see so many injustice in place when unarmed black men and women are killed by police, when my children are not treated as well as others when they need care  in a hospital, or when based on my color and gender it is almost certain I will make less than my counterparts. So HELL YEAH I’m all for making America great -its the again part I have an issue with when I look in the faces of the people chanting this slogan line at rallies.

They don’t hold up hold up signs advocating for greatness. I see signs of the confederate flag and chants to throw people out of the country and to go back to Africa. I see signs banning people based on race and religion. There are no signs of inclusion only signs of exclusion. As a Black American woman I am ALL for greatness in America but it is clear that a lot Americans, more than I want to believe, only want that greatness to be about them, to secure their safety in the world, to be the great white America they believe is denied them because other humans are just asking for the same standards.I don’t hear inclusion for anyone in any of the speeches at these Make America Great, gatherings. I see absolute giddy enthusiasm to express their freedom to hate openly like the past days of American greatness. I watch these images in  horror because I see a history repeating itself and it is not great. It is not great at all.

On Trump: It’s Obama’s Fault

Trump is what you get when a fringed racist electorate is full of hate and ignorance because there is an African-American man in the White House. This is where we are now. They want to tell you its because he’s honest and not a Washington player. Bullshit, we are dealing with Trump because we have a Black President in the White House and America believes the House should be White. Trump will really ratchet up the White House, well any house actually, have you seen pics of his homes? Tacky ass tacky!

But he is what the GOP base thinks can turn this country around. Around to where I don’t know but they believe in pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. I’m just trying to figure out why.

So, tonight I sat, watched and listened to Trump at his rally in Dallas. I tried to listen objectively to a person I did at one time like enough to find entertaining. I knew I was not going to hear anything about policies or much of anything important but I tried to listen with an open mind. I now know he loves women, he respects women and will be so good to our healthcare we won’t believe it…thanks Donald. I now know that President Obama does not know what he is doing and is a really, REALLY incompetent president. Despite all that good shit that happened to the economy.

I know Michelle I’m rolling my eyes too.

But I do blame Obama for Trump. If Obama could have looked more white we wouldn’t have to deal with this bottom feeder. If Obama just walked with a little more stick up the ass white men wouldn’t be so offended. If, maybe he married a white woman and had children with a little less melanin then maybe his presence in the White House would not have been so offensive. So now we have this ‘silent majority’ of racist and a few self hating blacks and hispanics sitting in the American Airlines Center cheering on a man who literally said nothing but because he is rich, white, and ignorant they cheered him on like he made a fifty yard touchdown.

Thanks Obama but this shit is not funny because we may have to deal with this asshole after you leave. No one will be smiling then. Absolutely no one.

OnTrump: When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong

I couldn’t be bothered to watch the GOP debate Thursday night. I knew it would be all about Trump and from the morning talk shows, countless news updates and commentary it was exactly as I predicted- a debate without any substance because it was hi-jacked by Donald. I can’t be anymore disgusted with Trump because it’s just wasted energy. He’s an idiot and he’s okay with that and I’m okay with that. What I’m not okay with is the hordes of Trump fans who think his ‘real talk’ is worthy of a Presidential election. Are you kidding me?

I listened to a woman in New Hampshire,  a member of the NH Women for Trump coalition, defend him after the debates as being what America needed. This woman was sure to mention that she served in public office in two positions and felt Trump would get America back on its fiscal feet again. I don’t know what kind of water is pumped in New Hampshire but how does anyone listen to this man and think his ignorance, his arrogance, and his twisted bullshit is worthy of any political office talk less of the President of the United States?

White folks love Donald because he keeps it real and all I can think of is Dave Chappelles ‘When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong’ and with Trump as President the country would go wrong pretty damn quickly. Oh, stupid boy Trump can’t be bothered to be politically correct because political correctness is what ruined America. Ok, dude whatever. Wasn’t the wars, wasn’t the capitalistic gluttony, wasn’t the factories closing and moving and setting up shop in China and India…it was political correctness. So, Trump wants to bring back real talk because talk will get America back on its feet again so you hoes, and bimbos better read the memo because the Donald is real.

But this woman from NH Women of Trump and all these other supporters think he is good for the country because he does not speak like a politician. Well how about just speaking like an intelligent human being? How about reading up on policies because it is VERY clear the only thing Trump reads are headlines about himself and I’m pretty sure he couldn’t pass a tenth grade history test. But people like this woman who is supposed to be educated, supposedly served in two small offices of her states government listens to him and hears what America needs?

What she hears, and the whole lot of Trump supporters, hear is their insecurities about America and their place in it. What they hear when Trump speaks is not about what America needs but what white America wants again.

Ignorance and fear is what Trump promotes, ignorance and fear

On Birthdays: Malcolm X

quote-i-ve-had-enough-of-someone-else-s-propaganda-i-m-for-truth-no-matter-who-tells-it-i-m-for-malcolm-x-249354

How did I forget it was my favorite hero’s birthday today? le sigh…

I don’t know what this world or our community would be like if Malcolm had survived but I do very much wish he had lived long enough for me to understand him, march with him, and  feel his presence in the world.

A few things I love about Malcolm:

  •  He was always evolving. We all can learn and respect that one days situation does NOT have to be a lifetime situation. Malcolm evolved from a criminal to a world leader. Yes, world because people of color all over the world respect him.
  •  He was eloquent even when he was shredding someone to pieces. Rappers take note Malcolm used his words like swords without cussing or the N word and was the most powerful feared black man on the planet
  • He taught himself. When teachers told him he was not good enough because he was black he grew his intelligence on his own and learned. His mind didn’t shut down it kept seeking. We must know that not everyone wants us to succeed. It’s not their decision…it’s ours.
  • He was Muslim. When he fell out with Elijah Muhammad he took it upon himself to learn the religion. It was not a fad  or jailhouse religion for him.
  • He understood the need to be self efficient in our community.
  • His speeches are timeless. Ballot or the Bullet is on repeat in my house
  • FBI couldn’t catch him cheating….no shade just that when he turned his life around HE TURNED HIS LIFE AROUND.
  • Happy Birthday Mr. El Hajj Malik El-Shabazz!

Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

I believe in the brotherhood of man, all men, but I don’t believe in brotherhood with anybody who doesn’t want brotherhood with me. I believe in treating people right, but I’m not going to waste my time trying to treat somebody right who doesn’t know how to return the treatment.

Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.

America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem. Throughout my travels in the Muslim world, I have met, talked to, even eaten with people who in America would have been considered ‘white,’ but the ‘white’ attitude had been removed from their minds by the religion of Islam.

No, we are not anti-white. But we don’t have time for the white man. The white man is on top already, the white man is the boss already… He has first-class citizenship already. So you are wasting your time talking to the white man. We are working on our own people.
Despite my firm convictions, I have always been a man who tries to face facts, and to accept the reality of life as new experience and new knowledge unfolds. I have always kept an open mind, a flexibility that must go hand in hand with every form of the intelligent search for truth.

On Waco: Policing and 2 Americas

A McLennan County deputy stands guard near a group of bikers in the parking lot of a Twin Peaks restaurant Sunday, May 17, 2015, in Waco, Texas. Waco Police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton told KWTX-TV there were "multiple victims" after gunfire erupted between rival biker gangs at the restaurant. (Rod Aydelotte/Waco Tribune-Herald via AP)

I guess in Waco, Texas they were ‘peacefully’ killing people so the police were not in fear of their lives.

A man backs away as law enforcement officials close in on him and eventually detain him during protests over the death of Michael Brown, an unarmed black teenager killed by a police officer, in Ferguson, Mo., Aug. 11, 2014. The Federal Bureau of Investigation said on Monday that it had opened an inquiry into the weekend shooting of Brown. (Whitney Curtis/The New York Times)
